Gombe state House of Assembly passed ‘vote of no confidence’ on the Speaker of the House, Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Ibrahim leading to his removal and replacement with Hon Abubakar Mohammed.
The embattled speaker impeachment washis impeachment was presided over by Deputy Speaker, Siddi Buba, representing Kwami West constituency.
The Chief Whip of the House, Hon. Musa Buba who briefed the press on behalf of the House said the removal of the former Speaker was in exercise of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
According to him, 16 members of the House out of the 24 passed a vote of no confidence on the former Speaker.
He dismissed the insinuations that they were being sponsored saying the decision of the House is in the common interest of the state.
Muhammed is representing Akko Central constituency at the Assembly. He was elected by 15 members of the Assembly and has been sworn-in.
Similarly, the leader of the House Samuel Marcus representing Pero-Chonge has also been impeached and replaced with Yarima Ladan Gaule of Kaltungo East constituency.
