Bello presents N130.5bn budget to Kogi Assembly

The Governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, on Tuesday, presented a budget of N130.5 bn for the 2021 fiscal year to the state assembly.

The Budget titled, ‘Budget of accelerated recovery’ was presented to the legislators represents an increase of N7.5bn or 6.16 per cent when compared with the 2020 budget.

The Governor is proposing to spend N82.4bn representing 63.17 per cent on recurrent expenditure while N48,081 representing 36.83 per cent will be spent on capital projects.

While presenting the budget the governor said, “The objectives and target of the 2021 budget, was hinged on effective allocation of scarce resources to identify critical programmes and projects.”

“The budget is also aimed at improving the quality and access to healthcare leading to improvement in efficiency of the healthcare delivery system.”

“It will also ensure food security and generate a high proportion of the GDP from agriculture while exploiting the full commercial potentials of our location and endowments as a State and expand trade to ensure that products from agricultural and industrial activities have access to markets locally and internationally.”
