Offa Poly Inquiry Panel Gives Update on alleged award presentation to Cult Groups

The Management of Federal Polytechnic Offa inquiry Panel has given updates on the purported award presentation to cult groups in the institution.

Following the online reports that the Students’ Union Executives led by Adigun Abiola during their Union Week presented meritorious awards to Alora, Aye and Eiye confraternities towards there contribution to the students and the institution has caused uproar on social media.

That however, led to the investigative panel set up by the management to unravel and shed more light to the claim.

The SUG President, Abiola Azeez Adigun, had debunked the viral pictures, insisting that “the award does not emanate from our office and was probably photo-shopped by an enemy of progress of the union.

The Panel headed by the Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. Femi Quadri had earlier released a memorandum to the Polytechnic community to submit evidence and useful information regarding the alleged awards. After a thorough investigation, the Panel came up with the following; That:

– The Students Union Executives did not give out awards to any cult groups.

– The Polytechnic Management has always put machineries in place to wage war against anti social groups on campuses.

– The alleged awards were politically motivated to discredit the Students’ Union Executives by mischievous persons.

– Design on the alleged awards to the cult groups displayed online upon close examination, were different from the ones the Students’ Union Executives presented to awardees.

-Awards/Prizes given by the Students’ Union Executives were in six (6) categories namely: Mr. Fedpoffa, Miss Fedpoffa, Overall Best Student, Best Faculty President, Best Departmental President and winner of speech competition.

The Management in an official release therefore informs the general public to disregard the unfounded and unverified awards/stories making rounds on social media concerning the claimed awards at The Federal Polytechnic Offa.

The Management added that the findings of the panel constituted will be forwarded to security agencies within the state to assist in unveiling the culprits behind the alleged awards.

While emphasizing on the efforts of the Polytechnic towards sustaining academic excellence, the Management stressed further that the Polytechnic has recorded sustainable peace, growth and development as well as uninterrupted academic calendar in recent times, and will not relent in its efforts at ensuring academic excellence through turning out graduates that are worthy in character and learning.

Members of the Investigative Panel include: Dean, Directorate of Students’ Affairs, Mr. Gbenga Aleminu, Deputy Registrar, Servicom unit, Mr. Olushola Omole, Director of Information, Public Relations and Protocols, Mr. Olayinka Iroye, and Chief Security Officer of the Polytechnic, Mr. Moshood Ibrahim. Others are Dr. Rafiu Jimoh and Barrister Kunle Babatunde.
