First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Group has appointed a new acting Managing Director to run the affairs of the commercial banking arm First City Monument Bank Limited.
The new group acting managing director is Yemisi Edun. She is an executive director on the board of the bank.
This was confirmed the management on its verified twitter account on Wednesday.
It tweeted, “In line with normal corporate practice, Mrs Yemisi Edun is Acting as the Managing Director of FCMB in the interim period while Mr Adam Nuru is on leave.
“She has not been appointed as the substantive Managing Director.”
She was appointed to replace the embattled Managing Director, Adam Nuhu, who is alleged of unethical conduct.
He was accused of having a romantic affair with a former employee of the financial institution, Mrs Moyo Thomas. The alleged romance produced two children, according to reports.
FCMB Group in a statement had earlier informed stakeholders and the general public that it is currently conducting a review of what transpired, to ascertain if there are violations of code of ethics or mere allegations.
It said, While this is a personal matter, the tragedy of the death of Mr Tunde Thomas and the allegations of unethical conduct requires the bank’s board to conduct a review of what transpired, any violations of our code of ethics and the adequacy of these code of conduct ethics. This will be done immediately.”
Yemisi Edun holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife and a Master’s degree in International Accounting and Finance from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.
She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and a CFA® Charter holder. She is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers; an Associate Member of the Institute of Taxation of Nigeria; a Member of Information Systems Audit and Control, U.S.A; and a Certified Information Systems Auditor.
She began her career with Akintola Williams Deloitte (member firm of Deloitte Touché Tohmatsu) in 1987, with main focus in Corporate Finance activities. She was also involved in the audit of Banks and Other Financial Institutions. She joined FCMB in the year 2000 as Divisional Head of Internal Audit and Control before assuming the role of Chief Financial Officer of the Bank.
