COVID-19: Osun rolls out Transportation Guidelines to Control Second Wave

As the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic resurges with unprecedented virulence, the Government of the State of Osun has emphasized on the need for commercial transport operators to comply with all the State’s transportation safety guidelines.

In furtherance to the sensitization efforts, the State’s Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Transport, Engr Hussein Olatoke Olaniyan and officials of the office of Transportation visited motor parks in Osogbo metropolis on Monday 11th January 2021 to enlighten transport operators on guidelines to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the State.

He emphasized on the need to wear face masks and washing of hands by drivers and passengers in other to curtail the spread of the virus. He also stressed on the need to keep social distancing rules by reducing to 50% of their vehicles carrying capacity and to ensure that passenger manifests are prepared and kept for every journe embarked upon for proper contact tracing.

Engr Olatoke Olaniyan stated that, since the inception of the outbreak of pandemic, the state government had not stopped in discharging her responsibilities to transport operators in the State in the distribution of palliatives and other provisions.

The transport operators appreciated the State Government and promised to keep to COVID-19 protocols.

Among motor parks visited by the state government officials were Olaiya temporary motor park, Old Garage motor parks, Oke Fia motor parks, Ota Efun motor parks, Oke Ijetu motor park, and others.
