Ghana has shut down its parliament for at least three weeks over the resurgence in cases of coronavirus among lawmakers and parliamentary staff.

The speaker of the house, Alban Bagbin, declared that the legislature will be in recess until March 2

This is to disinfect and sanitize the premises.

About 17 members of parliament and 151 supporting staff have tested positive for COVID-19.

“I have, in consultation with leadership, decided that sitting of the House be adjourned for three weeks,” the Speaker said.
