Kano Former House of Reps Member dies of COVID-19

A former House of Representatives member from Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Maikano Rabiu, is dead.

The former lawmaker and veterinary doctor died on Thursday of coronavirus-related complications at Kwanar Dawakin Isolation Centre, in Kano.

A family source, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, confirmed the death on behalf of the family, saying the deceased would be buried around 2:00 pm.

He said the deceased, who died at the age of 72, left behind one wife, children, and relations.‌

According to him, the late former lawmaker was also a Special Adviser to Governor Ibrahim Shekarau on Economic matters.

Rabiu was Assistant General Manager, defunct Bank of the North, former Chairman, Kano Micro Finance Bank and House of Representatives member in the second Republic.

It was further disclosed that he was elected into the Senate in 1998 under UNPP during the Sani Abacha regime.

Until his death, he was the Dalatun Bichi and District Head of Dawakin Tofa.
