Varsity expels six Students for Rape, Fraud

The Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, has expelled six students from the university.

Timenews gathered that the expulsion of the students was due to various offences ranging from rape to theft.

This was confirmed in a statement by the Vice-Chancellor of the institution which was approved by the senate of the university.

According to the statement, one Bekwele Ogbondah Godspower, a year one student in the department of Accounting was expelled for allegedly “defrauding other students of their school fees and issuing them with fake receipts” which cost most of the students their admission in the last academic session.

Also one Linus Hans in the Accounting Department was also expelled for “stealing a student’s mobile phone”.

Other offenders incnuded; Nnamdi Destiny, Samuel Valentine both of Department of Political Science and Chukwuemeka Amajuoyi, from the Theatre and Film Studies alongside Ovunwo Henry-Junior were expelled for allegedly “gang raping a female student” in her hostel.

In the meantime; a Human Right group, Centre For Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign has commended the Senate Of University for their actions particularly for expelling the students accused of rape.

The group in a statement by the Head of Women mobilization, Kelechi Uzoma said the Senate of the institution has proven that issues of sexual violence do not have a place in the institution, saying the action has instilled public confidence on the safety of students particularly the female students on the campus.
