BREAKING: ASUP suspends Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics has suspended its 65 days old strike.

It however stated that the suspension was for a period of three months within which it is expected that the Federal Government would have fulfilled all items contained in the Memorandum of Action.

The National President of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Anderson Ezeibe confirmed this in a statement signed by the General Secretary of the union, Comrade Shammah S. Kpanja, on Wednesday in Bauchi.

Ezeibe stated that the resolution was made following the 74% vote of chapter congresses currently observing the industrial action.

The body had, in a nine-point demand, requested among others, implementation of new salary scheme, revitalisation of polytechnics, the inauguration of the national commission for polytechnics, implementation of new national minimum wage, payment of arrears, among others.
