Buratai, Olonisakin Appointed As Nigeria’s Ambassador To Benin Republic, Cameroon

Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd) and former Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin (rtd) has been appointed as Nigeria’s ambassador to the Benin Republic and Cameroon respectively.

Timenews reports that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, presented the letter of credence to the ex-service chief on Tuesday.

Buratai is the Ambassador-Designate to the Republic of Benin.

Olanisakin is the Ambassador-Designate to the Republic of Cameroon.

Onyeama, during the brief ceremony, congratulated them on their appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari and called on them to deploy their wealth of experience to promote Nigeria’s interest during their tour of duty in countries of accreditation.

President Muhammadu Buhari had nominated the ex- four Service Chiefs on 4th February 2021.

They were confirmed by the Senate on February 23, 2021.

Ex- Chief of Air staff, Ibok Ibias and former Chief of Naval Staff, Abubakar Sadique are still awaiting their posting.
