JUST IN: Secondus, other PDP Leaders Storm NASS To Protest Lauretta Onochie’s Appointment

Leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have stormed the National Assembly (NASS) to protest.

Timenews gathered that PDP leaders stormed the National Assembly to protest the appointment of Lauretta Onochie.

President Buhari earlier in October wrote to the Senate to confirm the appointment of one of his media aides, Lauretta Onochie, and three others as Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The leaders on Wednesday demanded the immediate reversal of her appointment as INEC Commissioner.

PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, who led the protest described her appointment as a mockery of democracy.

Secondus emphasised that Onochie who is a card-carrying member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) cannot be appointed into a position that requires a high level of neutrality.

He, therefore, urged the leadership of NASS to impress on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately withdraw her nomination.
