Makinde approves 25 percent reduction in LAUTECH’s tuition fees

Oyo Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Tuesday, announced the 25 per cent reduction in the tuition fees of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).

Timenews reports that the governor spoke during an unscheduled visit to the institution in Ogbomoso.

He said the reduction would cut across all students irrespective of their statuses.

A statement by spokesman, Taiwo Adisa, quoted Makinde as saying he was thankful to the students for according him warm reception.

According to the governor, the reduction will cut across all students of the institution regardless of their levels and states of origin.

“I am glad to be back among you. After the 2019 election, I should have returned to say thank you to you but I didn’t want to come until I fulfill what I promised you, which is the sole ownership of LAUTECH by Oyo State,” he was quoted as saying.

Makinde promised the students and staff that he would return to spend the night for celebration.

The governor explained that part of his campaign was to fix Under-G/ Stadium road with street light to prevent students from being molested, robbed and killed.

He reiterated his commitment to ensuring a four-year programme at the institution does not drag for as long as eight.

Makinde also reassured the re-engaged 170 staff of the varsity’s teaching hospital — who were relieved of their employment by the previous administration — that his government will pay their five months salary arrears.
