Nigeria defeated the United States men’s basketball team 90-87 in its first pre-Olympic exhibition game.
Its first-ever defeat to an African nation according to history.
Nigeria converted 22 three-point throws in the game. It was the country’s first win over the No. 1 ranked nation in the world.
The landmark victory came nine years after the U.S. shellacked Nigeria 156-73 at the London Olympics, the U.S.’ biggest blowout in Olympic men’s basketball history.
