Eid-el-Kabir: Kwara Gov, Speaker Preaches Love, Tolerance and Sacrifice

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danaladi-Salihu, have felicitated Muslims on the occasion of the 1442 AH Eid-el-Kabir festival, urging them not to forget the symbolic significance of the celebration.


In their separate messages to Muslim faithful, they encouraged worshippers to take cognisance of the symbolic significance of the festival and imbibe the lessons of obedience and sacrifice as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor said the feast of sacrifice is a reminder to the rewards that await those who are patient and submit to God’s will and maintain excellent relations with fellow human beings, irrespective of their differences.

“I bid the Muslim community and indeed every Kwaran a blessed and peaceful Eid. Ahead of the Eid, however, I urge everyone to pay attention to the latest development around COVID-19 outbreak. We cannot afford to be complacent. I therefore urge all to be guided by COVID-19 protocols as issued by the federal government. We should at all times prioritise personal and public safety, including correct use of face mask,” he said.

“On this Eid and always, I commend us to work together, as one people under one God, to build a stronger country, and to jettison non-progressive politics and or everything that may threaten national peace and security or destroy the livelihood and joy of others.”

The need for Muslim faithful and Nigerians, in general, to continue to demonstrate pure love, tolerance and make sacrifices to keep Nigeria as an indivisible entity for her to attain sustainable growth and development has been stressed.

The speaker, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sheu Abdulkadir Yusuf, congratulates the State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari and other traditional rulers and the Muslim communities for witnessing the Eidul-Kabīr festival 1442 AH.

“I congratulate the Executive Governor of Kwara State; Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari and all our traditional rulers and fathers as well as the Muslim communities for witnessing yet another Eidul-Kabīr and charged the faithful to remember Nigeria and Kwara state in prayers”, Rt. Hon. Engr. Danladi-Salihu said in a statement.

“It is important for us as Muslims to have a deep reflection on the lessons of sacrifice, tolerance and love for one another that this Eidul-Kabīr typifies, remember Nigeria and our dear Kwara State as well as our leaders in prayers for Allah’s divine wisdom in directing our affairs so that we can overcome challenges facing us”.

“As the second arm of government, we will continue to give necessary legislative backings to the state government under the leadership of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq so that it can consolidate on the numerous infrastructural projects and development across the state”.

While admonishing the Muslim faithful to be moderate in their celebration and share the joyous moment with the less privileged around them, the Ilesha/Gwanara representative called for adherence to all the Covid-19 preventive measures.

The Speaker concluded by appealing for more patience, support and cooperation from the citizens especially the stakeholders with the Governor and his government assuring that Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq means well for the citizenry.
