The Kwara State government has warned residents to desist from dumping refuse in drainages to avoid flood incidents.
The Commissioner for Environment, Remilekun Banigbe, frowned at the lackadaisical attitude of the residents towards hygiene in the state
She explained that proper hygiene should be part of peoples routine when taking care of their well-being.
The commissioner advised people without roro bins in their areas to patronize commercial waste contractors for proper evacuation of their wastes, adding that where such being are located, they should be used properly.
She said all local governments in the state were involved in the environmental issues as their environmental officers are always carried along.
Mrs Banigbe warned against felling of trees for charcoal which she said has been prohibited in the state.
She explained that the issue of securing the forest is of utmost importance to the Kwara State government.
