Osun govt speaks about demolishing Aregbesola’s campaign office ‘Oranmiyan House’

Governor Gboyega Oyetola led administration has dismissed scrupulous rumour circulating about the government’s plan to pull down the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola’s campaign house in the state capital, Osogbo.

Oranmiyan House is the campaign house owned by the minister of interior, Aregbesola.

On Friday, an aide of the former governor, Wale Alabi in a Facebook post alleged that the current administration has taken a decision to revoke the Certificate of Occupancy of the Oranmiyan House, and subsequently demolish it.

However, in a statement on Saturday by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Funke Egbemode, the government said that the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola is committed to building and improving on what it inherited and transforming the fortunes of the state for good.

Egbemode described the allegation as a desperate falsehood aimed at fomenting trouble.

The statement read in part: “The misinformation making the rounds about Governor Gboyega Oyetola sitting in council to discuss plans to demolish the Oranmiyan House at the State Executive Council is both untrue and wicked, and cheap propaganda from the quarters of drowning politicians grabbing at straws to stay afloat.

“Governor Oyetola is known in Osun and beyond as a fine gentleman, driven by the passion to make Osun better. He is a man who builds, he does not pull down.

“At no point was the idea mooted at the meeting of the Executive Council to revoke the certificate of occupancy of Oranmiyan House or to demolish the structure. Executive Council meetings are for serious matters of governance, issues that translate to greater values to the welfare and wellbeing of citizens.

“Governor Oyetola’s administration will not be distracted by the desperate falsehood and negative energy of frightened politicians who are working hard to create tension where none existed.”
