Insecurity: IGP deploys new CP to Anambra, special forces

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba has deployed Echeng Echeng as the new Commissioner of Police in Anambra State.

He takes over immediately from CP Tony Olofu, who has been redeployed to the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

also ordered the deployment of a detachment of NPF Special Forces to Anambra to complement the peace-building efforts of the Nigeria Police Operation Restore Peace.

This was contained in a statement on Tuesday, by the force spokesman, Frank Mba.

According to the statement, the IGP expressed concern at the renewed incidents of attacks on innocent individuals.

He directed Echeng to mobilize kinetic and non-kinetic law enforcement and crime-fighting approaches to reverse the negative trend, reclaim public spaces from hoodlums and restore public peace.

Echeng, until now the Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa, holds a First Degree in History from the University of Maiduguri.

Ths CP received extensive training on global peace support operations at Mission Training Cell, Kielce in Poland, among other tactical and leadership courses.

Echeng also served as a former Police Component Commander, Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Zonal CID, Zone-13, Ukpo in Anambra.
