Insecurity: Terrorists abduct 3 in Zamfara State

Three persons have been abducted by suspected terrorists from Damban community, on the outskirts of Gusau metropolis in Zamfara State, Northwest, Nigeria.

Eyewitnesses said that the victims included two children and the wife of the Director of Finance, in the state’s Ministry of Finance, Sirajo Hassan.

They explained that the terrorists stormed the Damban Government Reserved Area, GRA, at about 1 AM on Monday, with the intent to abduct the Director, who was not at home at the time.

They, however, abducted his wife, Maryam Gambo and two children.

The vigilante operatives were said to have engaged the suspected terrorists in a gun duel to repel them from abducting a larger number of people from the area.

Two of the vigilante operatives sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital.

It was learnt that the suspected terrorists had contacted the victims’ families and are demanding N100 million as ransom.

Damban is about two kilometres from Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

It has witnessed three series of attacks by suspected terrorists within one month.
