Sit-at-home Protest: NUT Niger State To Mobilize Public Secondary School Teachers

The Nigeria Union of Teachers, Niger State Wing, will soon mobilize public secondary school teachers across the state to join the Sit-at-home protest.

The union has thrown its weight behind the ultimatum issued to the Niger State Government by the Nigeria Labour Congress, Niger State Council, on the lingering demands of the state’s civil servants.

The communiqué expressed worry, on the negative impact of the sit-at-home protest, which the public primary school teachers had commenced, from the tenth of January, on the educational sector.

It condemned the insensitive nature of the state government in proferring solutions to the lingering demands of the union.

The union in a communique, jointly signed by the State Chairman, Akayago Muhammad, and the Principal Assistant Secretary-General, Labaran, shortly after the State Working Committee meeting, charged the Niger State Government to address the issue of payment of public primary school teachers salaries on percentage.

The union appreciated members of the Niger State House Of Assembly for intervening on the matter, to find lasting solutions.

The Union called on its members to continue to be patient and law-abiding, at all times.
