The Nigerian government has asked Nigerians to disregard the rumour making the round about the state of President Muhammadu Buhari’s health.
A certain online medium, had at the earlier hour of Sunday, reported that Buhari who left Nigeria a week ago has allegedly died during his medical follow-up in the United Kingdom.
The report, which the senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on media and publicity, Garba Sheu described as baseless, was being sent across all social media platforms and instant messages.
Garba in a series of tweets on Sunday, said the President is still very much alive, and there is no cause for alarm
“Baseless rumors are trending again that an unpleasant thing has happened to our beloved President, Muhammadu Buhari.
If you have received this information on WhatsApp or Facebook, disregard it bcos it is plain lies spread by vested interests to create panic.
Nothing unpleasant has happened to the President. No cause for apprehension. Thanks for the many calls.”
President Buhari, had after receiving the released 82 chibok girls last Sunday, embarked on a medical trip to London.
His current visit to the Queen’s country, is the second since the year started, and there have been different speculations about his health.
This will not be the first time, President Buhari will be rumoured dead, same played out during his first medical vacation early this year.
