Happening Now: Arotile, Nigeria’s First Female Helicopter Combat Pilot, Laid To Rest In Abuja

The burial of Nigeria’s first female helicopter combat pilot, Tolulope Arotile, has commenced at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja.

Arotile, who died on July 14 in Kaduna, is being buried in strict compliance with COVID-19 guidelines, Air Force spokesman, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, said.

However, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal, Abubakar Sadique; Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello; the House Committee Chairman on Air Force, Bala Ib’n Nalla and the family members of the deceased are present at the cemetery.

According to NAF, Arotile died from severe injuries following a road traffic accident at it base in Kaduna.

It was also reported that the driver that hit her was a former secondary school classmate who, in the process of reversing his car to greet her knocked down the deceased.
