Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of Dr Oluremi Nurudeen Olaleye as the new Rector of the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH).
The appointment was announced in a statement signed by the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education and Head Public Affairs, Omolase Yejide.
Olaleye was earlier interviewed by the Institution’s Governing Council and subsequently recommended.
He is to serve five years single term which takes effect from 1st December, 2020 at the expiration of the tenure of the Acting Rector, Mr. Olumide Olusola Metilelu.
Olaleye prior to his appointment was Chief Lecturer at the Polytechnic.
it was gathered that four names were recommended by the institution’s Governing Council, led by Prof Rasheed Kola Ojikutu, to the Governor through the Office of the Special Adviser on Education (OSAE).
However, two candidates, Dr Nurudeen Olaleye and Olumide Metlelu, out of the 11 aspirants appeared before the final screening panel, were found suitable for the appointment.
According to sources, Olaleye scored 86%, the highest mark in the screening exercise and was followed by Metilelu with 78%.
