BREAKING: Civil societies, NANS stage June 12 protest in Osogbo

The National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) has made a u-turn on its initial decision ordering members to boycott the June 12 nationwide protest.

The Osun State chapter of the association joined the nationwide protest in Osogbo, the state capital, on Saturday.

Recalled that NANS president, Sunday Asefon, in a statement on Friday suspended its planned June 12 nationwide protest.

The Chairman of NANS JCI in Osun State, Comrade Oyelayo Afeez, led its members en masse to Oke-Fia.

However, Youths under the aegis of Coalition of Civil Society, Osun State converged on the popular Oke-Fai roundabout.

the groups armed themselves with different placards which read: Return my Twitter; Nigerian youths are not lazy, Buhari must go; Resign if you are tired – Buhari; Restructure Nigeria Now; among others.

The protesters held banners and placards demanding a better Nigeria.

“We can not ruin the economic activities of our state all in the name that some secessionist agitators want to protest. We are here today to demand a better country that works for all, we want a secure environment,” one of the protesters in Osun, Waheed Saka, said

However, there are heavy security presence at the venue of the protest.

Men of the DSS, Police, JTF, Amotekun and other local operatives were present at the venue.
