JUST IN: Oyo APC suspends state congress

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo State chapter, has postponed its state congress.

The party Congress has been scheduled to hold today (Saturday).

But members of the party and journalists who arrived the venue for the event were surprised to learn about the postponement.

The Congress, according to the party has been shifted for one week.

The Publicity Secretary of the party, in the state, Dr. Abdulazeez Olatunde also confirmed the postponement on Saturday.

Olatunde disclosed that the postponement was necessary in order to harmonise.

He said, “It has been postponed.

“It was postponed to allow us harmonise”.

The APC National secretary, John Akpanudoedehe confirmed the postponement.

He said, “It has become necessary to suspend the ongoing State Congress exercise in Oyo State due to information regarding the forging of documents meant to conduct this exercise.

“The national chairman has, however, ordered the Oyo State Congress Committee to return to the National Secretariat for further briefing.”

Akpanudoedehe said the suspension became necessary to ensure the credibility of the process leading to the emergence of new leaders in Oyo.

He said the APC would not tolerate acts of indiscipline and fraudulent manipulation of processes of any kind.
