Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma has issued Staff of Office to 52 newly elected traditional rulers in Imo State, urging them to be guided by the tradition and culture of their people.
Speaking at the Sam mbakwe exco chambers, venue of the ceremony, Government House, Owerri, Uzodimma also urged the Monarchs to be guided while associating with politicians for the sake of their integrity.
Owerri Government House and it’s suroundings were filled to capacity as relatives friends and well wishers gathered to celebrate with the new Monarchs.
A total of 52 new traditional rulers from different Communities in the state received staff of office at the event.
Uzodimma used the occasion to call on politicians to stop terrorising Imo people, through paid bandits.
He therefore appealed to the traditional Rulers not to compromise their oath of office or succumb to antics by desperate politicians.
Responding on behalf other traditional ruler HRH Eze Clement Okonkwo pledged their loyalty and readiness to ensure there is peace and development in their various communities.
Earlier, Governor Uzodimma met with the families of the three traditional rulers from Njaba and Okigwe Councils who were killed by bandits last year, and handed over Cheques to the widows of the slain monarchs.
