Reps pass establishment of vaccine production center for second reading

The house of representatives on Tuesday passed for second reading the bill for the establishment of a vaccine production center in the country.

They say this has become expedient due to shortage of vaccine for numerous ailments ranging from Malaria, poliomyelitis, Ebola, Lassa fever and now Covid-19 for the less developed and developing countries.

It has been observed that since the outbreak Covid-19 the development countries of the world have had the advantage of vaccinating more of her citizens again lower vaccination for under developed and developing countries.

To this end federal lawmakers in the green Chambers are calling for the establishment of a vaccine research and development centers to bridge the gap and make vaccine easily available and accessable.

The bill titled; bill for the establishment of a center for vaccine research and development and related matters was sponsored by Hon. Kasimu Maigari from Adamawa State at plenary on Tuesday.

Lawmakers were unanimous in supporting the bill.

Their was also a suggestion for the rehabilitation and upgrade of an existing center in plateau to serve the purpose..
